Imagine a child that cannot swim in her own pool outside, can’t play soccer or softball or attend a BBQ in the summer–she is allergic to sunlight. Erythropoietic Porphyria (EPP) is an extremely rare, intense allergic reaction to sunlight that affects between 5,000 and 10,000 people worldwide. It causes varying degrees of burns, redness, itching and pain. For people with EPP, their daily lives are extremely different than those of the average person. For one little girl, “it feels like you’re burning from the inside.”
