After surviving horrible burns from an oil accident when she was just two years old, Basma Hameed had an epiphany. After more than 100 procedures to repair her extensive third-degree burns on her face had failed, she turned to tattoos to restore her skin to its natural color. Hameed received training in cosmetic tattooing and had success with her very first patient–herself (see her before and after pictures, above). After seamlessly camouflaging the discolored pigment in her face, she decided to use her skills to help other victims of burns and accidents.
