This 4th of July weekend, many of are are gearing up to celebrate ‘MURICA with fireworks, BBQs, beer and a long, relaxing weekend. But as celebrations go, there’s always some people that take it just a little bit too far. Here, we’ve collected some scary stats about just how crazy this entire month can get!
- In 2015, there were eight deaths and 11,400 injuries from fireworks mishaps.
- July 5th has an average of 110 deaths annually.
- Fireworks injuries from June 22 to July 22 in 2012 caused an average of 200 people to go to the emergency room every day
- In 2011 alone, fireworks caused an estimated 17,900 reported fires, including 1200 structural fires, 400 vehicle fires, and 16,300 outside and other fires, culminating in 8 deaths, 40 injuries, and $32 million in property damage.
